Finished Painting Number 3!
Finally finished my third painting! I must admit that I was starting to loose my patience with this one, but besides some minor things that I wish I had time to fix I am ultimately happy with the results. I think it feels very feminine, which is what I was going for, and I like how the composition guides the eye in a clockwise motion around the whole painting. I think the color palette I choose is really appealing and unifies the whole piece. I think this piece challenged me to use what I know about color theory. I tried to play with warms and cools, which you can see in the white of the paper and the handle on the record player. I used a limited color palette to make the peice feel cohesive and unified and just played with the proportions of the colors used in each object.
I really enjoyed having some creative freedom with this piece. I love painting still lives, and creating my own from imagination to tell a story was really fun. I think it is really interesting how much of a story you can tell with the just objects and no people or characters at all.

Happy to see the finished product! It will be fun to do another art heist to get this into our apartment. The pink will go with our chairs!
ReplyDeleteThere is something super pleasing about the pink of the entirety of this piece paired with the splash of blue!
