Progress on my First Painting
Progress on my painting is coming along nicely for the most part. I have moved on from my underpainting and stared adding more details. I've also been enjoying using the limited/renaissance color palette (with some cheating by adding brighter hues to the earth tone triad) with some success. I feel these muted colors look more interesting than simply translating the bright prismatic colors of the toys. My biggest challenge has been accurately portraying the perspective of the objects, particularly the green brick in the foreground. I spent the better part of my weekend in the studio correcting and adjusting the positions of the objects and adding shadows and reflections.
I feel like I have learned a lot about this medium already, and I really appreciate how forgiving it is and the amount of time it allows me to blend. I am looking forward to seeing my progress throughout the semester and hoping my technique improves with time and practice.
I love how the reflections and highlights are looking on the toy car, it's super visually interesting.
ReplyDeleteWow! This is amazing progress. I truly enjoy seeing the way someone puts their piece together, I can see the way the color of the oils make a better 3D effect of the objects and it allows to stand out and reflect better. Can't wait to see you keep progressing!
